At least 5 injured as flash floods hit Iran

Heavy floods caused by rainfall damaged cars and roads in over 10 provinces across Iran with at least five people reported as slightly injured, an official with the Rescue and Relief Organization said.

The flash floods have hit the provinces of West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Hamedan, Golestan, Sistan-Balouchestan, Semnan, Zanjan, Khuzestan, Northern Khorasan, Isfahan and Ardabil, Morteza Salimi told ISNA.

He added that five people have been injured, and excavators and emergency services have arrived at the affected sites to help more than 1,000 people and clean-up the streets.

Roads were seen partly destroyed, with damaged vehicles, some covered in mud, deserted along the streets. The first floors of dozens of homes were also flooded.
