Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman performs traditional Kalinka dance

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has held her promise to journalists working at the Russia-ASEAN summit in Sochi and performed the traditional Russian Kalinka dance.

The unusual performance of the high-ranking diplomat took place during a concert organized on the sidelines of the summit.

This is not the first time Maria Zakharova has surprised journalists. In early May, the spokeswoman offered a rhymed reply, when asked about frequent telephone conversations between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. In a four-line stanza - an unmistakable allusion to My Heart’s in the Highlands, by Robert Burns - Zakharova ventured to suppose that "John’s heart is in Moscow".
